BREAKING EVEN - Rob Szabo - Animated Music Video

"This is Cal's Ben Hur(so far...). People said it couldn't be done. They said no one does 2D hand-drawn animation anymore ... not even the big studios. Done with his team of 4 animators, this Disney-esque mini-epic was took several years and many thousands of (hu)man-hours of animation time to complete. It combines a refreshingly un-ironic viewpoint with cutting edge animation techniques (combining 2D & 3D animation in the same shot??--has this ever been done?) to produce an undeniably beautiful and innocent story that makes me smile so hard it hurts. Suffice it to say; I'm a big fan."

Press Release

Class of 3000 Brings Sophisticated Funk to Cartoon Network
Beginning Friday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. (ET, PT)

Network to air “Mockumentary” and All-Star Premiere Event Featuring Celebrity Guest Performers

Class of 3000, the highly anticipated primetime half-hour animated series created and executive produced by André “3000” Benjamin (OutKast) and Tom Lynch (Romeo!), will debut with a one-hour premiere on Friday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. (ET, PT), on Cartoon Network. The night of the premiere kicks off at 7 p.m. (ET, PT) with a special musical event from the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta featuring special guest star performances.

On Friday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. (ET, PT), Cartoon Network will also air the half-hour “mockumentary” Sunny Bridges: From Bankhead to Buckhead, chronicling the life of the fictional superstar of Class of 3000, Sunny Bridges, with interviews from the character’s fans and celebrity friends.

The series, about an international music star who gives up everything to teach a group of gifted musical prodigies in Atlanta, will feature a new song every week from Benjamin within the context of a music video, animated by some of today’s most highly respected animation directors. Benjamin also wrote and performed the series’ theme song.

In addition to his creative responsibilities – including production, writing contributions, and voice, music and visual direction – André “3000” Benjamin will lend his voice talent to the lead character, Sunny Bridges.

The cast of Class of 3000 includes veteran voice actors Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants, Camp Lazlo), Phil LaMarr (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Justice League, Samurai Jack), Crystal Scales (Static Shock, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius), Jennifer Hale (Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls), Janice Kawaye (Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi) and Jeff Glen Bennett (Johnny Bravo, Camp Lazlo).

Class of 3000 is produced by Cartoon Network Studios in association with the Tom Lynch Co. and Benjamin’s production company, Moxie. Thomas W. Lynch and André “3000” Benjamin are the executive producers of Class of 3000. Twelve half-hours and a one-hour premiere are in production at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, Calif. The show’s co-executive producer and head writer is Patric M. Verrone, a writer for Futurama, The Critic and Pinky and the Brain and a supervising producer on Futurama. Joe Horne (The Boondocks, Teamo Supremo, The Oblongs) serves as supervising producer.

André “3000” Benjamin is best known as one half of the Grammy-winning musical group OutKast. His acting career includes roles in feature films Idlewild; Four Brothers, starring Mark Wahlberg; Be Cool, starring John Travolta; and Hollywood Homicide, featuring Harrison Ford. He also lends his voice to the character Elwyn in the upcoming film Charlotte’s Web, which blends live-action and animation. Moxie, his Atlanta-based production company, develops original feature films as well as episodic television.

PRESS RELEASE

Boomerang to “Unveil” New Weekly Franchise, NO UNDIES MONDAYS, on Oct. 9

Fun-filled and Not-so-Risqué Hourly Tribute to Showcase Classic Line-Up of Pants-less Cartoon Characters 4-5 p.m.

Boomerang, Cartoon Network’s commercial-free, all-classic animation network, has found yet another new way to spotlight its unmatched catalog of cartoon stars in a new weekly franchise featuring a catchy, if somewhat provocative title—NO UNDIES MONDAYS—premiering Monday, Oct. 9, at 4 p.m. (ET). Great personalities from Hanna-Barbera, the dominant cartoon studio of the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, will link their laughter-inspiring adventures each week for a new one-hour salute to pants-less-ness.

“Boomerang is home to some of the biggest stars in the world. The one difference between these celebrities and the rest of Hollywood is that our characters have absolutely no problem with being caught with their pants down,” said Marc Buhaj, vice president of programming and scheduling for Boomerang and Cartoon Network. “While most of our dapper stars accessorize extremely well with a sophisticated hat, a finely starched collar and a classic bowtie, many of them neglect to wear pants! What better way to pay tribute to this ‘cheeky’ fashion than use it as inspiration for a weekly programming franchise that showcases cartoon stars who don’t wear pants: NO UNDIES MONDAYS.”

Many of Boomerang’s classic characters have been tapped to be featured on NO UNDIES MONDAYS for their “shortcomings,” including both well-known and somewhat obscure personalities as the following:

· Monday, Oct. 9 — Jellystone Park’s most famous resident, “smarter than the average bear” Yogi Bear; the time-traveling purple hippopotamus, Peter Potamus, and his sidekick So So the monkey; the star-struck squid musician who longs to be in showbusiness, Squiddly Diddly; polar bear Breezly and his sinus-struggling pal, Sneezly the seal; and the slow-talking, Southern-accented, Clementine-singing dog, Huckleberry Hound.

· Monday, Oct. 16 — New York’s bright yellow leader of Broadway alleycats, Top Cat; famed animator Tex Avery’s final character creations, Kwicky Koala and Wilfred Wolf; Cave Block #9 dwellers of the Wonderland Zoo, The Hair Bear Bunch; and the lovable little animals that wear message-bearing T-Shirts and help others in need, the Shirt Tales.

· Monday, Oct. 23 — U.S. Marshall of the old West, Quick Draw McGraw, and his Mexican burro sidekick, Baba Looey; the precocious youngster, Augie Doggy, and his non-too-competent single parent, Doggy Daddy, who speaks like Jimmy Durante; the West’s Sherrif of Hoopen Holler, Ricochet Rabbit, and his deputy, Droop-along Coyote; the King Kong-size gorilla with a heart of gold, Grape Ape; and the Phil Silvers-sounding Hokey Wolf and his sidekick, Ding-a-ling.

· Monday, Oct. 30 — The forever “exiting, stage left” lion who sounded like comedian Bert Lahr, Snagglepuss; Loopy De Loop, a gentleman wolf who mangled the English language in his bid to converse in a bad French accent; the best pal pair of mice, Pixie & Dixie; and the Hillbilly cat and mouse duo, Punkin Puss and Mushmouse.
